PART TIME/ FULL TIME JOBS ANNOUNCED BY THE INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE (IB) UNITED STATES (USA)
The International Baccalaureate (IB) is a
non-profit educational foundation offering challenging programs for a
worldwide community of schools. It is now represented in over 150 countries and
in 5,000 schools. The IB provides an international pre-university curriculum
and an international university entry qualification, which gives access to
higher education on a worldwide basis. You may be interested to visit the
public website at www.ibo.org for more details. One of the characteristics of
the IB's Diploma Program is that students are required to study, as one of
six subjects that constitute the diploma, one of three ‘Language A’ courses,
each designed to develop high social, aesthetic and cultural literacy, as well
as communication skills. The IB’s Language A: literature course is for students
aged 16-18 and involves the study of both literature originally written in the
language of the course and works of other languages and cultures studied in
translation. Emphasis of the course is directed towards developing an
understanding of the techniques involved in literary criticism and promoting
the ability to form independent literary judgments.
The International Baccalaureate (IB)
is currently seeking to make the appointment on following vacant posts:
CHIEF EXAMINER FOR GLOBAL POLITICS
The Chief examiner is principally
responsible for setting and maintaining the academic standard for their
subject(s). They are therefore closely involved in setting question papers,
marking candidates’ work, and determining the final grades of candidates. As
such the position of Chief examiner entails a commitment to attend meetings for
activities such as question paper editing, examiner standardization and grade
awarding. These meetings may be face-to-face or held online.
As a Chief examiner the post holder
is also a member of the examining board for the IB. The examining board ensure
that the IB programs as a whole are coherent and fit for purpose.
A Chief examiner may also be invited
to participate in curriculum and assessment development alongside teachers,
external consultants, and IB academic staff. However, the IB currently operates
a seven year cycle of curriculum review for individual subjects and courses,
therefore the exact nature of this involvement will vary according to timing.
All essential and desirable skills,
qualifications and experience are listed in the recruitment policy available on
the IB senior recruitment pages.
As the IB currently operates a seven-year cycle of curriculum
review for individual subjects and courses, the exact nature of your
involvement will vary according to timing. The IB Chief Examiner position is part-time, involves no
relocation, and is usually undertaken in addition to existing work commitments.
